An important effort, besides that necessary for the preservation of the activity of fishing in our city, was dedicated to the improvement of the living environment of inhabitants and guests of our city. Numerous works were made or are in progress to facilitate the life of the inhabitants.
The walk of La Croix for example, allows now to promenade with the children safely from Fort Pleurou to Quai Nul and then to reach the ledge up to the beach of White Sands. All the Bay spreads out in front of your eyes, the Pointe du Cabellou, that of Beg-Meil, and islands Glénan on the horizon. It is there also that the Center of Arts and Culture displays its facade towards the wide to welcome the events which take place there, such the Maritime Book Show which crowned Herve Hamon for his book "Besoin de mer" on July 14, 97.
The Peneroff Quay, from the marina up to the entrance of the Closed City and beyond up to the Quay of Aiguillon was also the object of renovation and is linked in a wide project implemented by the municipality for the complete renovation of the city center.
It is moreover in perfect equivalence with the new face of this city center that the hundred-years-old Halle saw redoing a health. The new organizations of the Halle, in the European standards, define an airier and pleasant frame for the professional or the customer. The storekeepers adapt their schedules of opening (in the morning and late in the afternoon) to satisfy the needs of the population.
The construction of a dry dock, so allowing to repair the boats of 70 in 115 m, is in progress. This project receives the support of the City hall, of the Minister Louis Le Pensec, the shipbuilder Piriou and all the companies concerned by this tool which would open new markets (repair of vessels of average tonnage) to the local know-how.
